Dennis and Laura call their unique mix of modern folk, rock, roots, and country music  "California-Americana," drawing favorable comparisons to singer-songwriters such as Jackson Browne, Dave Alvin, and Dave Rawlings and Gillian Welch  

They've performed in coffeehouses, wineries, bars, backyards, front yards, gymnasiums, stadiums, living rooms, theatres, festivals, street corners, beach fronts, mountain shacks, and railroad tracks--anyplace that anyone might request one of their songs.  

 

Highlights of their career in music include:

  • opening act for Cyndi Lauper, as well as other established artists such as Rosie Flores, Katy Moffatt, Lili Haydn and Dan Bern

  • playing at the legendary Whisky-a-Go-Go and the iconic Roxy in Los Angeles

  • hosting an open mic at the Moondog Cafe in Hollywood

  • Laura conducting the Antelope Valley Symphony Orchestra for 20 years, and working as Music Director for many musical theatre productions.

  • having Dennis's song "There's a Guy" appear in the independent film Verses

  • Both Laura and Dennis having songs included in the lyrics section of the Santa Barbara Literary Journal (SBLitJo).

 

For several years, Dennis and Laura lived in Lancaster, CA, where they taught courses in the Music Department o the eager students of Antelope Valley College. Laura conducted the Antelope Valley Symphony Orchestra for 20 years, and also was the Music Director and conductor for many musical theatre productions, including West Side Story, Evita, Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Oklahoma, among others.  Since 2008, they have  been based in Santa Barbara and Carpinteria, CA, and have played at area venues such as Cold Spring Tavern, Soho.

 

Dennis  has released three albums of original music: My Little World, Acoustic-Senstive-Singer-Songwriter-Type-Guy, and Golden

Laura has written two children's ballets, The Rainbow Goblins, and Animal Tales.

 

Dennis has published a book of short stories, That Fourth of July, and a book of poetry, Surfer Song, both are available at Amazon. com.

The Dennis and Laura Pancake Breakfast Show streams live on  Facebook and YouTube, at 10 am Pacific Time every Sunday morning ,having broadcast over 250 shows since March 2020.
